What is Celebrate Bishopdale?
Celebrate Bishopdale! is an annual community event that was established by the Fendalton/Waimairi Community Board in 2013 after local residents wanted to see a fun, family event in the area. The aim of the event is to celebrate living in Bishopdale and to come together as a community. The event is held at Bishopdale Park on Harewood Road. What is Bishopdale Skate Jam? Bishopdale Skate Jam is run in conjunction with Celebrate Bishopdale in the Skate park. Aimed at 8- to 15-year-olds, but also suitable for younger or older audiences and for the family to attend. Great opportunity if you have not skated before, are just starting out or want to learn some nifty new tricks. The Skate School Team will be avaialable to assist people learn to skate, along with free gear hire. What is the date of Celebrate Bishopdale? The date for Celebrate Bishopdale! 2024 is on Saturday 23rd November (Postponement date Sunday 24th) . Event organisation Celebrate Bishopdale! is organised by the Christchurch City Council’s Fendalton/Waimairi Community Governance staff in partnership with the Bishopdale Community Trust. The event is funded by the Fendalton/Waimairi Community Board. Event format The event runs from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Groups, individuals and schools perform on a main stage in 10-15 minute slots from approximately 11:15 to 2:00pm. There are opportunities for organisations to promote their services through information displays and to fundraise through food stalls, craft and market stalls. There is a cost involved for food and market stall holders. There is also a range of children’s entertainment including face painting, climbing tower, bouncy castle, baseball, stone carving, pedalmania and other activities.
