What is Celebrate Bishopdale?
Celebrate Bishopdale! is an annual community event that was established by the Fendalton/Waimairi Community Board in 2013 after local residents wanted to see a fun, family event in the area. The aim of the event is to celebrate living in Bishopdale and to come together as a community. The event is held at Bishopdale Park on Harewood Road.
What is the date of Celebrate Bishopdale?
Celebrate Bishopdale! 2021 was scheduled to take place on Saturday 20 November at 1am to 2pm. However, the event was cancelled due to uncertainty around COVID alert levels. It may be able to be run in March/April 2022.
Celebrate Bishopdale! is organised by the Christchurch City Council’s Fendalton/Waimairi Community Governance staff in partnership with the Bishopdale Community Trust. The event is funded by the Fendalton/Waimairi Community Board.
The event runs from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Groups, individuals and schools perform on a main stage in 10-15 minute slots from approximately 11:15 to 2:00pm.
There are opportunities for organisations to promote their services through information displays and to fundraise through food stalls, craft and market stalls. There is a cost involved for food and market stall holders. There is also a range of children’s entertainment including face painting, climbing tower, bouncy castle, baseball, stone carving, pedalmania and other activities.
